The best air fryer chicken wing (ranking 6 methods)

Today is a very exciting day for air fryer fans all over the globe because by the end of this video I will have all your chicken wing technique questions answered. Which technique produces the crispiest, juiciest, most flavorful chicken wing? Does the ever so famous baking powder technique still rank supreme or is the not so well known twice “fry” method coming in for the crown? Does a three step breading process yield a better crust or will regular all purpose flour be better? Well, search no further because I will be testing out 6 different chicken wing techniques to crown the best air fryer chicken wing. Each wing will be ranked on a scale of 1 – 10 with 10 being the best! In order to keep everything fair I will be seasoning all the wings and breading with the same homemade seasoning mix as well as trying one wing as is right out of the fryer and then another that will be all sauced up with an all purpose spicy gochujang sauce. Flour Breaded Chicken Wings

Ingredients:

  • 6 chicken wings

  • 1 teaspoon of all purpose seasoning mix

  • 1/2 tablespoon of ap flour

  • 2 tablespoons of all purpose wings sauce, optional

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl add in the chicken wings. Sprinkle over the seasoning mix and ap flour Toss to combine and well coat each chicken wing.

  2. Spray the air fryer basket with a little bit of oil and then place in your chicken wings.

  3. Air fry at 380 for 15 minutes. Take out of the basket and coat with sauce or keep dry. Its totally up to you!

Baking Powder Chicken Wings

Ingredients:

  • 6 chicken wings

  • 1 teaspoon of all purpose seasoning mix

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 2 tablespoons of all purpose wings sauce, optional

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, add in the chicken wings. Sprinkle over the seasoning mix and baking powder. Toss to combine and well coat each chicken wing.

  2. Spray the air fryer basket with a little bit of oil and then place in your chicken wings.

  3. Air fry at 380 for 15 minutes. Take out of the basket and coat with sauce or keep dry. Its totally up to you!

Breadcrumb Chicken Wings

Ingredients:

  • 6 chicken wings

  • 1/4 cup of all purpose flour

  • 1 egg

  • 1/4 cup of bread crumbs

  • About 1 teaspoon of all purpose spice mix

  • 3 tablespoons of all purpose wings sauce, optional

Instructions:

  1. Grab three bowls and place your flour in one, your egg in one, and your bread crumbs in one.

  2. Scramble your egg and sprinkle in some seasoning mix. Sprinkle in some seasoning mix into the flour and bread crumb too!

  3. Take your chicken wing and dredge it in the flour, then egg, and finally the bread crumbs. Repeat for the rest of the wings.

  4. Air fry at 380 for 15 minutes. Take out of the fryer and coat with sauce or keep dry. Its totally up to you!

Parboiled Chicken Wings

Ingredients:

  • 6 chicken wings

  • 1 teaspoon of all purpose seasoning mix

  • 2 tablespoons of all purpose wings sauce, optional

Instructions:

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil and then drop in your chicken wings. Let them simmer for 5 -7 minutes. Dry them off and then sprinkle over your spice mix.

  2. Spray your air fryer container with some oil and then add in your chicken wings.

  3. Air fry at 380 for 15 minutes. Take out of the fryer and coat with sauce or keep dry. Its totally up to you!

Cornstarch Chicken Wings

Ingredients:

  • 6 chicken wings

  • 1 teaspoon of all purpose seasoning mix

  • 1/2 tablespoon of corn starch

  • 2 tablespoons of all purpose wings sauce, optional

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, add in the chicken wings. Sprinkle over the seasoning mix and corn starch. Toss to combine and well coat each chicken wing.

  2. Spray the air fryer basket with a little bit of oil and then place in your chicken wings.

  3. Air fry at 380 for 15 minutes. Take out of the fryer and coat with sauce or keep dry. Its totally up to you!

Twice “Fried” Chicken Wings

Ingredients:

  • 6 chicken wings

  • 1 teaspoon of all purpose seasoning mix

  • 2 tablespoon of ap flour

  • 2 tablespoons of all purpose wings sauce, optional

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, add in the chicken wings. Sprinkle over the seasoning mix and ap flour. Toss to combine and well coat each chicken wing.

  2. Spray the air fryer basket with a little bit of oil and then place in your chicken wings. Air fry at 250 or 20 minutes.

  3. Once done, take them out and place them in the fridge for 30 minutes to cool. Then place them back in the air fryer and give them a quick spray of oil.

  4. Crank up the temp to 400F for 8 minutes. Take out of the fryer and coat with sauce or keep dry. Its totally up to you!

All Purpose Wing Seasoning Mix

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon of ginger powder

  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon of cumin powder

  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika

  • 1 teaspoon of chili powder

  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon of salt

Instructions:

  1. Mix all spices in a bowl until well combined.

  2. Pour your spice mix into a small jar until you are ready to use it!

All Purpose Wing Sauce

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoon of butter

  • 3 tablespoons of gochujang

  • 3 tablespoons of honey

  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce

  • 1/4 cup of mirin

  • 1/4 cup of rice vinegar

Instructions:

  1. In a sauce pot, combine all the ingredients and cook down for 4 -5 minutes.

  2. Let it cool and then pour into a bottle to save for your chicken wings
